RISK & FINANCE
WHAT DO WE FOCUS ON?
Our research work brings a new light on the analysis of the banking business models, in a context in which different shocks have altered the capabilities of many banking players – retail bank, investment bank, mass retail bank, or universal banks – to create value and be profitable, to the extent of interrogating the “sustainability” of the traditional banking model. Our R&D builds on an innovative econometric modelling focusing on a set of European banks, in order to assess the effect of shocks on the evolution of profitability. We analyze the factors affecting profitability and banking risks and identify the most profitable activities and future levers of growth. Our results allow to define an optimal positioning in the framework of a strategic analysis.
