Platformisation and innovation strategies

An R&D programme carried out in partnership with ESCP Business School.

Context

Platformisation marks the transition from an economy centred on products to one centred on digital intermediaries, and many companies are using it as a lever for development and a new business model.

Why?

Our R&D work helps our clients who produce goods and services to adapt to intermediation in their sectors and turn the threat of intermediation into an opportunity.

How?

On the one hand, we study the consequences of platformisation for the various aspects of the business model of ‘traditional’ companies producing goods and services. Secondly, we identify appropriate strategies to enable these companies to reposition their business models and turn the development of platforms into a lever for differentiation and competitive advantage. To do this, we take into account quantitative criteria (e.g. the digital maturity of customers and product/price elasticity) and qualitative criteria (e.g. the legitimacy of a company in its sector and the flexibility of its corporate culture). In this way, we help our clients to build and adopt the best platform strategy, so that their platform development projects do not fail, as is the case for 80% of projects.

Who?

Companies in all sectors.
