Managing the decarbonisation of property assets

An R&D programme conducted in partnership with the Climate Economics Chair (University of Paris Dauphine-PSL).

Context

Property assets account for almost 45% of energy consumption in France, making them a priority target for decarbonisation strategies. These are currently based on the Energy Performance Diagnosis (‘DPE’, or energy label), which does not reflect the actual consumption and emissions of buildings.

Why?

To design an optimal decarbonisation policy. We enable efficient targeting of properties for refurbishment in order to prioritise investments that will deliver the greatest real reductions in energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

How?

We are developing a model for predicting actual energy consumption in housing that takes account not only of the technical characteristics of buildings, but also of key socio-economic variables relating to their occupants.

Who?

All those involved in the property sector: banks, property managers, and public bodies.
